SimTek is a solid, stone-look panel for Akron yards that face a busy road or a rail line. It needs strong posts and deep footings, and we step it on sloped ground.
SimTek is a molded polyethylene panel with a steel-reinforced frame, made to look like a stacked stone or wood-grain wall. It is solid, so it gives full privacy, and its mass helps dull traffic noise. We install SimTek for Akron owners who want something heavier than vinyl.
It makes sense in particular spots: a back yard that faces Interstate 77 or the Route 8 corridor, a lot beside a rail line, or a patio next to a busy parking lot. No fence makes a highway silent, and we will not promise that. A solid, dense panel with no gap at the bottom does take the edge off.
The panels are heavy and catch the wind, so the posts are steel-reinforced and the footings are deep. On Akron's slopes SimTek is stepped, since the panels do not rack. We also ask your zoning office whether a solid fence of that height is accepted where you want it. Call (330) 521-3641 for a measure.
SimTek fences in Akron: common questions
Does SimTek need painting or sealing?
No. The color is molded in and the panels are made to resist fading. Washing with a hose is the only upkeep.
How does SimTek handle a sloped yard?
It is stepped. Each panel stays level and the next one drops. On a steep grade that leaves a wedge under each panel, which we fill, grade or close off if a pet is involved.
Will it block road noise?
It reduces it. A solid, heavy fence blocks more sound than a board fence with gaps, and it works best when it is tall, close to the noise or close to you, and tight to the ground. It will not remove the sound.
