We build and repair chain link backstops for ball fields around Akron. Footings go below frost depth so the frame stays square from one season to the next.
We build baseball and softball backstops for schools, churches, parks and youth leagues in the Akron area. A backstop is chain link on a heavy pipe frame, often with angled wings and an overhang to keep foul balls in.
Because it stands tall and alone in the middle of an open field, a backstop takes more wind than any yard fence, and its footings are sized for that. They go below frost depth so the frame does not rack over a few winters. We also look at drainage, since the low spot behind home plate is where water collects on many fields.
Tell us the level of play and whether you need dugout fencing, sideline fence or an outfield fence as well, and we quote them together. Worn fabric on a sound frame can be replaced without rebuilding. Call (330) 521-3641 for a site visit.
Backstops in Akron: common questions
What size backstop do we need?
It depends on the age group and the space behind home plate. Youth fields use smaller backstops than high school fields. We measure the field and suggest a height and wing length to suit.
Can you repair a bent or torn backstop?
Yes. Torn or curled fabric, bent rails and loose ties are routine repairs. If the main posts have leaned, they need new footings.
Do you install outfield and dugout fence too?
Yes. Sideline fence, dugout enclosures and outfield fence are chain link work we do along with the backstop.
